5/20/15 – Going God’s way will make your life fulfilled

Written by Carlton L. Arnold

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless.  He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.   For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God?  It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.   Psalm 18:30-32

One thing you can learn from the verses above is that God’s way is perfect.  What does “his way” mean?  Think a moment about the “way” you live.  How do you make decisions?  How do you handle problems and setbacks?  How do you treat others?  What do you do in your spare time?  If I could observe you in these situations, I would have a good idea about the “way” you live your life.

God is saying that his “way” is perfect.  There are no imperfections in His creating and sustaining everything.  Your way is not perfect, because you are a sinner and the flesh desires to control you.  You may have good intentions, but they go out the window if your expectations are not met.  The “way” of God is through Jesus Christ.  Jesus revealed God to us.  We know God from learning about Christ.   Jesus said that He was the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

His Word is flawless.  You can read the Bible knowing that it has been scrutinized more than any other book and continues to pass the test of “without error in giving hope to people.”  There is nothing in this world that you can put your faith in that will not eventually fail you (including people – parents, siblings, husband/wife.)   We all fail someone in some way.  I take great comfort in reading the Bible, because it is solid and without any errors.  Reason may plant the suggestion of errors in the Bible resulting in doubts about God’s existence and His power to overcome all things.  If this is you, I wish you the best in what this world will do to you.  Faith in a flawless Bible frees you to have God reveal Himself to you, resulting in a fulfilled, purposeful, and abundant life.

God is also a shield for you.  When life throws things at you, God protects you, and you may never be aware of it.  Now, some people like to have things thrown at them because of their egos (“I can do it myself!”), or because they want others to feel sorry for what they “have” to go through in life.  The secure Believer is depending solely on God as a shield.  It’s not about the “me”; it’s all about Him.

When you are settled in your mind about God’s way, His Word, and that He protects you, then you are free to develop wholesome relationships with others.  This is God’s purpose in giving you His way, Word, and protection.  Only when you know that you have those things will you open up to others.  You will not have a problem in being transparent to others.  The opposite of being transparent is being hypocritical.  We have too much hypocrisy in our churches, because we do not rely on God’s Way, His Word, and His Protection.
