8/19/15 – Death in the life of a Believer and an unbeliever

Published: Wednesday, 19 August 2015 Written by Carlton L. Arnold

Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.  For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 1 Corinthians 15:51-53

This continues the Biblical support for the amazing, mysterious, unbelievable, wonderful glorified body that God has planned for every Believer.  However, it surprises me that God will also resurrect the bodies of unbelievers for judgment.

Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.  The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.  Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.  Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.  Revelation 20:11-15

When God is prepared to judge mankind, all bodies are resurrected.  No matter how many times a human body decomposes in the sea, God will resurrect that body.   Believers will not be a part of this judgment, because the blood of Christ has atoned for their sins.  Their sins against God were forgiven when Christ died on the cross and presented His blood on the perfect altar made without human hands in heaven. (See Hebrews 8-10)  God will allow every unbeliever to present reasons for why they should live eternally with God.  However, if their name does not appear in the Book of Life, then that person will face the Second Death.  This judgment of unbelievers is not a Second Chance but is the Second Death.  Remember that “death” in the Bible means separation.  In this case, the unbeliever is removed from the Presence of God for eternity and thrown into the Lake of fire with Satan and all other evil forces.

I want to end this discussion of the human body with additional scripture that speaks of the immortality for the Believer.  When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” “Where, O death, is your victory?  Where, O death, is your sting?”  The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:54-56 Death has no hold on Believers, and they will not suffer the Second Death.  Only unbelievers will face the Second Death.

AMEN! and AMEN!  All glory to God!  He has a wonderful plan for your body.
