2/10/16: Is Your Christianity showing?

Published: Wednesday, 10 February 2016 Written by Carlton L. Arnold

Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.  Philippians 1:12-13

These verses are talking about Paul when he was put in prison for his belief in Jesus Christ.  He eventually would be martyred for Christ.  Currently in the world, there are Christians who are being martyred for their faith in Christ.  Every Christian in the world should be praying for these people facing severe persecution.  With the way the world is going, persecution of Christians is increasing.  The Bible speaks of this as the “Day of the Lord” or End Times.

At your funeral, will people say, “I didn’t know he/she was a Christian?”  In the verses above, Paul did not hide in a jail cell never saying a word about his belief in Jesus Christ. If Paul were wearing a leather wristband that had the image of the cross or the initials WWJD, he would not take it off when he heard someone approaching his cell.  Paul did not remove anything from his cell that would testify to the glory and power of God.  In other words, as the verses indicate, EVERYONE in the palace guard knew that Paul was a Christian.  Can the same be said of who you are regardless of who you are with, where you are, or what you are doing?

In today’s world, political correctness has swung the pendulum to the point that says you are not to display any indication of religion.  Unfortunately, Christianity has been picked out as the one religion that you cannot demonstrate any indication that you are a Christian.  This is wrong.  At the various places that I worked, I would begin Bible studies.  No Religious Police stopped the studies and arrested me.  I made sure that nothing about the studies took one iota of anything away from the work place, the job, and the company.  At one location, the studies went on for seven years and had over 25 different people attend at one time or another.  One devout Catholic man began to attend with an attitude of persecution.  After several months, he was promoting Bible studies in his church.  Eventually, he was invited to discuss the importance of Bible studies at many of the Catholic churches in the area.  The Holy Spirit was moving in his life and in others.

I did not hide my faith.  I spoke out when in groups about my faith.  I never pushed my faith on anyone else; however, several people approached me to talk about Christianity and my beliefs.  People at your work place, in schools, in social media, and your neighborhood will know you are a Christian by how you live, what you say, and the decisions you make.  You live your faith and people will know your convictions.  Do not be afraid of any religious police; be bold in your faith.  Be true to who you are in Christ everywhere you go and whoever you are with.  You will be amazed how God will lead people to you who want to know about your Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.  When your life is over on this world, people will know how you lived your faith. Be strong and of good courage!  You are not alone.  God is with you all the time as well as millions of totally dedicated Believers.
