6/29/16 Believers are children of God because of His love

Published: Thursday, 30 June 2016 Written by Carlton L. Arnold

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.  Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.   1 John 3:1-2

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!”  This has to be one of the most profound and unbelievable statements made in the history of mankind.  There is a God who loves you so much that He thinks it is normal for you to be called a son/daughter of His.  Because of His love, you have been forgiven of your sins through the sacrifice of His one and only Son.  Because of His love, He has given you the opportunity to live with Him forever through His own death.  Of all the things ever created or have ever existed, the concept of unconditional love is the greatest, and it belongs only to the God who loves you.

Believers should realize and think on this love before they become angry with their spouse or their own children.  They cheapen God’s love when Believers throw a pity party or feel sorry for themselves.  Believers cannot experience the peace that cannot be understood when they sacrifice love to get their own way.  Every person that has ever lived has felt God’s love through the love of the mother and father.  The romantic love that causes so many thrills and so much heartache fits in a thimble next to the unconditional love of God.  Every person falling in love with another person only gets a momentary feeling of God’s love.

God’s love never stops.  God’s love is always full and complete.  God’s love can mend and heal the largest wounds experienced by human beings.  God’s love can never be copied; it is always real when it is coming from God.  God’s love never fails and never envies.  God’s love is always patient and kind.  It is not proud, rude, or self-seeking.  It is not easily angered or keeps a record of other people’s wrongs.  God’s love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.

The world has great difficulty in relating to Believers, because they do not know Christ.  God’s love is expressed through the sacrifice of Christ; the world has a hard time accepting God’s love as an alternative to worldly love.  Worldly love centers on the self in a person.  The self is always watching out for itself.  Even though sacrifice may occur in worldly love, it does so to get its own way.

Finally, Believers have not received everything there is about God’s love.  There is coming a day when Jesus will appear, and Believers will see Jesus as He is.  At that moment, the most unbelievable and fantastic event in the history of humanity will occur.  Believers will become like Christ.  God asks us to become like Him while on this earth, but sin, flesh, and the devil will continue to lie to us about God’s love.  After God removes all sin, flesh, and the devil, there will be nothing to stop a Believer from loving fully and completely with God’s unconditional love.  I will repeat myself because it is worth it.  There is a day coming when you, as a Believer, will be like Christ.  Hallelujah!!
