11/2/16 – A verse from the Bible about America

Published: Wednesday, 02 November 2016 Written by Carlton L. Arnold

Therefore say to them, ‘This is the nation that has not obeyed the Lord its God or responded to correction. Truth has perished; it has vanished from their lips.’ Jeremiah 7:28

Many people ask, “Where is America in the Bible?”  This is a verse that could easily be used to describe life in today’s America.

The verse was said during a very low point in the lives of many Jews.  The background for Jeremiah 7:28 was the prophet’s desperate appeal to Judah to return to God.  About 140 years before Jeremiah, the Northern Kingdom consisting of 10 tribes of the original 12 had been totally destroyed by the world empire of Assyria.  At the time, the Northern Kingdom was called Israel while the Southern Kingdom consisting of 1½ tribes was called Judah.  Judah miraculously survived an onslaught by Assyria, but God protected Judah because of its positive attempts to live a life for God.

Schools and colleges are teaching a philosophy of there is no true right or wrong.  If something pleases you, then you are justified by this philosophy to go ahead and satisfy your selfish desires.  Individuals can define truth in their own way with no accountability with God.  There are many things that the law and justice systems attempt to control, but they are not about to change anything to include God and His commands.

By this time next week, there will be a new President of the United States.  Emotions are at a fever pitch about the two candidates.  As you know, the Bible clearly states that God puts everyone in authority according to His overall plan for earth.

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.  Romans 13:1

Regardless of the outcome of any and all elections, God is in overall control of all governing authorities on this earth. There is coming a time when God will judge all of the nations and each individual.  We will say, “Holy and just are your judgments, O Lord.”

The verse in Jeremiah 7:28 is a scary verse if you are in love with this world.  It is very applicable to the current conditions we find dominating America.  America has moved away from God just like the nation of Judah.  God will judge America!
