Kingdom of Power: Is Pure Power

“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of words or talk but of power.” 1 Corinthians 4:20

If you have ever wondered about the kingdom of God, then this verse summarizes it as of power. Pure, clean, Holy Spirit, Spiritual Power. There is nothing like it in this world. Jesus spent a large amount of time talking about the kingdom of God. He compared it to many things on this earth to try to help us, as Believers, to live the kingdom of God while we are living in this world.

I can do all the talking I want, but God works with power. I can be teaching several classes, but God works with power. I can give the best lesson based on hours of study, but God works with power. The kingdom of God is POWER. I like that!

It’s almost like saying that there is nothing to compare to the kingdom of God because of its overwhelming amount of power. This indescribable power is sufficient to change lives from selfishness to benevolence, from complaining to being thankful, from unforgiveness to forgiveness, from graceless to full of grace, and so on. There is the physical power present in this world, but compared to the power that can change a life, worldly power is just a mite. There is enough spiritual power to change you!

Wherever power is, there is movement, there is change, and there is activity. I hope you dwell on the magnitude of this spiritual power. It’s the same power that created everything and sustains everything. It’s the power that raised Jesus from the dead. It’s the power that healed the lame and the blind. It’s the power that led you to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

Whether you are in a Bible Study class, sing in the choir, a Deacon, a Greeter, work with children, or just a “sitter and soaker”, if there is POWER, you will see the kingdom of God. Otherwise, things to you may seem pretty routine, repetitious, mundane, and dead.

You may begin saying things like, “I’m not getting anything out of my church or my Bible study.” Your focus is turning toward the kingdom of this earth where the “me” in you must be pleased. Yet, in this world, the “me” in you will never be satisfied. If things do seem rather mundane, you may want to strike up a conversation with God and get involved where He is at work. It’s easy to find where He is working because you will see power like you’ve never seen before.

The Kingdom of God is POWER…movement, change, activity toward living a spiritual life. From God’s perspective, you are already in the Kingdom of God and are no longer part of this world. He wants you to live your life here on this earth appropriating this spiritual power in all that you do while on this earth. Are you experiencing that power or do things seem pretty empty? Make it a daily habit to picture yourself in the kingdom of God with all the power of the universe in you. That really blows my mind!
