12/17/14: Praise the Lord whenever you can: He deserves all of our praise

Written by Carlton L. Arnold

And the Word of the Lord says,

Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—

who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,

who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,

who satisfies your desires with good things

so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Psalm 103:1-5

These are such comforting words coming from the Creator of everything we could possibly think of.  Think about allowing your soul to praise the Creator.  The soul is who you are: your personality, your mind, your emotions, and your will.  All of these characteristics are your inmost being.  Do not think of anything else besides the Lord.

While you are thinking of praising the Lord, He asks you to not forget His benefits.  Specifically, choose to think about some praise words for what God has done in your life.  From your birth, through growing as a child and as a teenager to your adulthood, when has God shown Himself to you?  These are events in your life that turned out to be life changing but you did not realize it at the time.  God loves to give you His benefits.

Some of these benefits are identified in the verses above.  As a list, they look like this:

  • Forgives all your sins
  • Heals all your diseases
  • Christ died on the cross to save you for eternal life
  • Gives you love and compassion
  • Satisfies your desires with good things

Think about these benefits for a moment and choose one that means the most to you now.  Write down your thoughts about why this one means so much to you, and share it with someone else.  Make praising the Lord a part of your life.
