2/11/15 – A Valentine Card From God to Humanity (NIV)

Published: Wednesday, 11 February 2015 Written by Carlton L. Arnold

The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart.1 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure.  Who can understand it?2  For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.3

Everyone lies to their neighbor; they flatter with their lips but harbor deception in their hearts.4 They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.5  For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.6  The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.7

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.8  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.9   If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.10

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.11   Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.12  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.13 My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ.14

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.15 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.16  I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.17  Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.18  Jesus replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” 19

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.20  Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.21  He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”  Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.22
