2/15/15 – A Valentine Card From God to Humanity (NABRE)

Published: Monday, 16 February 2015 Written by Carlton L. Arnold

Note: All of the verses taken from the New American Bible (Revised Edition)

The crucible for silver, and the furnace for gold, but the tester of hearts is the Lord.1  More tortuous than anything is the human heart, beyond remedy; who can understand it?2  For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, unchastity, theft, false witness, blasphemy.3

Help, Lord, for no one loyal remains; the faithful have vanished from the children of men.4  The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”  Their deeds are loathsome and corrupt; not one does what is good.5  For although they knew God they did not accord him glory as God or give him thanks. Instead, they became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless minds were darkened.6  When the Lord saw how great the wickedness of human beings was on earth, and how every desire that their heart conceived was always nothing but evil.7

But God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.8 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.9  For, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.10

God has made everything appropriate to its time, but has put the timeless into their hearts so they cannot find out, from beginning to end, the work which God has done.11  Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.12  For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.13  Their hearts may be encouraged as they are brought together in love, to have all the richness of fully assured understanding, for the knowledge of the mystery of God, Christ.14

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.15  Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.16  I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.17  With all vigilance guard your heart, for in it are the sources of life.18  He said to him, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.”19

Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God.20  If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.21  The one who gives this testimony says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!  The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all.22
