3/11/15 - All of our sins are removed by the blood of Christ

Written by Carlton L. Arnold

Since the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement[a] on the altar for yourselves, because it is the blood as life that makes atonement. Leviticus 17:11 (NABRE)

Therefore, brothers, since through the blood of Jesus we have confidence of entrance into the sanctuary. Hebrews 10:19 (NABRE)

But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of his Son Jesus cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7 (NABRE)

For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life. Leviticus 17:11 (NIV)

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus… Hebrews 10:19 (NIV)

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1:7 (NIV)

After Christ died on the cross, He took some of His blood to the perfect altar in heaven.  When He sprinkled His blood on that altar, all of our sins were forgiven.  God would no longer see our sins but only the blood of Christ that purifies us from all sin.  This is God’s plan for removing sin and guilt from us so that we can enter into the presence of a holy God.   (See Hebrews 7 - 10)

After Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, they tried to cover up their sin with fig leaves.  God declared it inadequate, so He made garments out of the skins of animals (blood sacrifice) to cover up their sins (Genesis 3:20).

God’s plan to remove sin continued to be revealed throughout the Old Testament.  This was done through an animal sacrifice on an altar.  God showed humanity how to build a tabernacle patterned after the one in heaven.  After this temporary tabernacle was finished, God instituted an annual sacrifice to remove the sins of the people.  However, this ritual had to be repeated every year.  With Christ, He died and presented His blood to the perfect altar in heaven one time for all past, present, future sins of every human being.

It is through the blood of sacrifice that will allow you to face a holy God.  The blood of Christ has made atonement for your sins once and for all.  Knowing this, we can enter the Most Holy Place with confidence because we will not be carrying any of our sins with us.  The blood of Christ has purified us from all sin.

I hope this gives you a huge jolt to your belief in what Christ did for you on the cross.  I hope it also gives you a more meaningful understanding of the love of the Father (John 3:16).  Any thought of our sins takes us away from realizing God’s love for us.  Our sins should never occupy our minds.  God has taken care of our sins.  Instead, our thoughts should be on the unconditional love of God, and Christ who demonstrates that love while we are sinners.
