4/15/15 - God thinks a lot about you!

Written by Carlton L. Arnold

“…you whom I have upheld since you were conceived, and have carried since your birth. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. Isaiah 46:3b-4

I love these words!  God spends more time thinking about you than you do thinking about Him.  I think He would like it the other way around.  However, we become so easily distracted (guilty!) that we could go for days or weeks and never spend time with God.  Shame on all of us for doing this to a loving Lord!  Read the Bible verses again.

This Bible passage says that God is a very personal God. He is not a God who is somewhere out in space with no concern for this world. God did not set everything up in this world, press a button, and stand back to watch what would happen.  This world and you are not an experiment of God’s.  How do I know?  He became flesh Himself and died on a cross for our sins.  He became an integral part in the history of humanity. He is not a bystander looking on this world with indifference. God is involved in your life on a daily basis!

God became involved in your life when you were conceived!  WOW!! This is an amazing truth about God and about you!  He personally knows every aborted baby and mis-carriaged baby and takes care of them in His Kingdom.  Our God is Awesome!  He didn’t wait for you to get to an age where you could understand Him with your mind. He began taking care of you the moment you were conceived!

Isn’t it interesting that, as Believers, we spend a lot of time trying to take care of ourselves without ever acknowledging God’s work in our life? It’s as if what we think and do for ourselves is better than any work that God can do in our lives. Does this make sense? I don’t think so. After you were born, God continued to “carry” you. What a comforting thought that the God who made the universe takes the time to “carry” you. When God is carrying you nothing can get to you…you are under His protection. During trials and tragic events in your life, guess who is carrying you? God! Another aspect of “carry” is support.  God is providing support for you in your life. And, most of the time, we do not even know it!

God also sustains your life when you are of “old age and gray hairs.”  This is such an encouraging thought when you reach a point in your life where you lose a spouse and/or your children and grandchildren are too busy to visit you. With only thoughts of yourself, you can easily become lonely and despondent. But, your God says that He will sustain you! He will support you, hold you, provide for you, help you get through the tough times, and encourage you to endure to the end.

No matter how old you are, start spending time with God.  Read His Word – the Bible.  Pray for your family and others.  Meditate on your life and how God is a part of it.  Make sure that God is in your life.
