About the Author

Carlton Lee Arnold has had a wide experience of teaching the Bible and reviewing numerous Christian curriculums.

I was born in Rome, Georgia in 1947.  I attended a Methodist Church in Lindale, GA because that is where my parents took us.   We lived exactly half-way between Rome and Lindale.  In the 5th grade, my father resigned from managing Colonial Stores, and established his own small grocery store in Douglasville, GA.

This small grocery store proved to be a life changer for me due to my father’s plans for the store.  The store was open from 8AM -9PM and was closed only one day out of the year.  No one ever guesses correctly what day that was.  It was the day AFTER Christmas Day.  My father believed in being open when everything else was closed.  New years Day – open; Easter – open; 4th of July – open; Thanksgiving Day – open, and Christmas Day – open.  Needless to say, as soon as I was able to work in the store, I worked.  This occurred at the age of 12 and greatly impacted my high school career.  I have some regrets, but it did pay for my college.

After graduating from Douglas County High School in 1965, I attended the University of Georgia graduating with a B.S. and M.Ed. in Mathematics in 1970.  Before going further, there were several major events in my life during a 3 week period in 1969.  My mother passed away 3 weeks before I was to marry my wife – D’Ette (currently working on 44 years), graduate from college, and be commissioned as an office in the U.S. Air Force.  These were several events that put life into perspective.  In hindsight, God was with me with every event and I Praise Him for how He comforted me during the tough times.

After receiving a B.S. in Math, I was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and received an educational delay to finish a Master’s degree in 1970.  Our first duty station was Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, Tx.   While there, I accepted a Regular Officer Commission.  I taught performance enhancements for computers and how to manage a Computer Center.  After 3 years, I was reassigned to Gunter AFS in Montgomery, AL as a Computer Systems Engineer. This job was to build mathematical models of future computers and to mathematically analyze large software applications.  In 1978, God led me to resign my commission.  I would use this analytical process for the next ten years at various companies.

We moved to St. Louis, MO to work for Southwestern Bell, and I experienced job success similar to  the Air Force.  However, after two years, my wife was not adapting well to the location and I sought another job.  I was offered a job with GTE and we moved to Tampa, FL.  By this time, we had two growing children (Eric and Erin) and very little money, but God provided for all of our needs.

At GTE, I held several positions over a 24 year career from Analyst to several different Director level positions.  It was during my GTE career that I met the manager from  another planet that I speak of in my books.  After 7 years in Tampa, my wife and I placed our trust in God with a significant decision to move to the Syracuse, NY area.  My son, Eric, graduated from Baker High School in Baldwinsville, NY and graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Ga.  My daughter also graduated from Baker High School and immediately began her career in Telecommunications.

After nine years in NY, God relocated us to our home state of Georgia that was a real miracle.  I finished my GTE career with Verizon when the GTE name was changed to Verizon.  I retired in May, 2003 at the age of 55.  I did just about anything I wanted to do for two years after retirement.  My motto during this time was: “Every day is Saturday, except Sunday”.

In May, 2005, my church, First Baptist Cumming, approached me about working for the church as Director of Adult Discipleship.  This was a wonderful job and I enjoyed it greatly.  However, I developed some serious health problems that required me to resign after five years.  The health problems have continued and we are still hoping that they will go away.  Please pray for me if you will.

I also had to quit teaching Bible Study classes because of my health.  For the past two  years, several people have encouraged me to write a book about my teaching.  I thought they were out of their minds as writing a book was like flying to the moon to me.  However, one encourager, Dr. Lou Meier, was relentless.  I finally gave in and wrote my first book, “Life-Changing Verses, Vol 1″ that was published on 12/26/12.  I published three additional books in 2013 that are described in detail on this web site.  I am planning to continue to write as I now believe it is God’s purpose for my life.  There are many things that people have requested that I write about and that should keep me busy with another four books in 2014.

My Personal Testimony:  I recognized that I was a sinner in the 5th grade while playing King of the Mountain with other boys.  I got hit very hard from behind and said some things that I didn’t think I would ever say in my life – i.e., I am a sinner.  Two years later, I recognized  what Jesus Christ had done for me and accepted His forgiveness of sins because of the cross.  I was baptized in the Second Baptist Church of Douglasville, GA.  I was a non-effective Christian from the age of 12 until I was 30.  I wasted 18 years of God’s time; however, looking over those 18 years, I could see God working on me.  At the age of 30, God made it clear to me that my life had to be His or I would have to live my life on my own as it happened.  I gave my life to God and He changed me immediately.  I started reading the Bible with a hunger that continues 35 years later.  It has never stopped.

I currently live in Cumming, GA about 45 miles northeast of Atlanta, GA near the dam of Lake Lanier.

At the end of 2014, I will update this status.  Thank you for reading all of this info about my life.  God has had His hand on me since I can remember.

In addition, while teaching a two-year class that included one year in the Old Testament and one year in the New Testament, my son took it upon himself to digitally record each class.  He transcribed these notes verbatim.  They are available at  You are encouraged to visit the site to read about the Old Testament and the New Testament, especially about God’s story in both testaments.  If you have any questions or comments, please let me know at This email address is being protected from spambots. In another two-year class, a class member took it upon himself to videotape each lesson and transfer them to DVD.  Each lesson is available for a nominal fee.  Note: there is a special seven-week study of the book of Revelation that has been taught in several Bible Study classes.  For more information, access my email: This email address is being protected from spambots.
